Hospital Policies
Emergencies: If your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency during our regular office hours, please proceed to the hospital as quickly as possible. If possible, have someone call for you and notify us of your impending arrival.
Emergencies on Weekends & Holidays: If the emergency occurs when our office is closed, the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Hudson Valley will examine and treat your pet. Phone (845) 471-8242 . The clinic is open from 6 pm to 6 am on weekdays and 24 hours on Saturday, Sunday, and all holidays.
Appointments: We ask that you please make an appointment unless your pet has a life- threatening emergency. If you should arrive unexpectedly and we have time available, we will be happy to see your pet immediately. However, unless your pet requires emergency care, clients with appointments will take precedence.
Drop-Offs: If your pet needs medical attention and you are unable to come in for a regular appointment, we are happy to arrange a drop-off appointment. We will accept your pet into the hospital where it will be examined later the same day, and you will be contacted before further treatment. To accommodate you in this manner, we require a phone number where you can be reached, and you must be a regular client in good standing with our hospital.
Prescription Refills: For the convenience of all our clients, we encourage you to call ahead in order to have your pet's prescription refilled. We can then have your pet's medicine ready when you arrive and reduce your waiting time.
Prescription Diets: Again, for the convenience of all our clients, we encourage you to call ahead when you need to have your pet's special dietary needs refilled. By calling ahead we can ensure that we have the requested diet in stock as well as reduce your waiting time. We place our orders with the manufacturers on Tuesdays at 12:00pm. Hill's and IAMS diets are delivered on Wednesdays by 12:00pm. IVD diets are delivered on Thursday.
Bringing in your pet: For the safety of all our clients, patients, and staff, we request that all pets be on a leash or in a pet carrier when arriving in our hospital. If you do not have a leash or carrier, our receptionists can provide one for your use.
In addition to your pet, it is helpful to bring the following to your appointment:
- Fecal sample
- Urine sample, if requested, or if your pet has experienced any change in water consumption or urinary behavior.
- Pertinent medical and surgical history
- List of symptoms/signs of current illness
- List of any medicines the animal is taking
- Lab results or x-rays, if available
Payment: All charges are payable at the time services are rendered or when the patient is discharged from the hospital. We accept cash, check, Visa, and MasterCard. We also participate in CareCredit which provides instant financing for major medical problems.
Pet health insurance is available and we are happy to provide you with additional information on available insurance policies.
